I finally finished my latest sculpture! I was not quite sure what "skin" I would put on him, but after much staring at the blank canvas of the bird, I decided to just go with Miro-inspired critters, on a background that's a bit like a starry sky. I created the background by first painting the bird ivory and pale green. After staring at this for a long time, I then decided I hated that and quickly painted it this gorgeous azure blue, but before the paint was dry, I sponged off a bit exposing a bit of the original layer....I loved the results! This bird is quite sturdy due to the fishing weights I embedded in the feet.
